If you are in your home country you will have an interview, and if the interview passes then you will be granted your conditional visa. You receive this visa when you enter the U.S. and you must enter the U.S. within 180 days of receiving the conditional visa. The conditional visa is good for 20 months and at the 20 month time frame you must apply for removal of the conditions by filing an I-829 application.
