The I-526 application, once compiled, will be sent to the California service center of the USCIS for review by the adjudicator. There are basically three outcomes from adjudication:
A. Approval
B. A request for additional evidence (RFE)
C. A denial of the application.
In the case of approval, the service will issue an approval notice. The service will inform you of the next step which is the interview. You will be sent an instruction packet for your Immigrant Visa Application (Forms DS-2001 & DS 230i). You must review the information in this packet and complete the forms prior to the scheduling of your U.S. visa interview.
After receipt of your completed Immigrant Visa Application, you will be notified by the U.S. Consulate of your formal interview date. At this time, you will also receive an Appointment Package for Immigrant Visa Applicants (DS-230ii), and you will be required to complete a medical examination.
In the case of an RFE, your attorney and/or the Regional Center must submit the required information in a specified amount of time or the petition will be denied. Assuming the information is sufficient you will be issued an approval notice. (see above)
